The Power of Sound

Philippians 4:6-8: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

No doubt you’re overly familiar with this section of scripture. I have written on it myself several times in recent months. But can I ask a strange request of you today? Take a few minutes and read it out loud. Speaking the Word out loud works in three powerful directions:

  1. It puts the Word of God in your mouth, so that you are speaking His perfect will BY His own Word!
  2. It creates a powerful impact on the environment around you. Even Satan Himself is confronted with the potency of God’s Word. (And sound waves impact Satan’s ‘domain’…the air! [Eph 2])
  3. It causes the basic principles you already know to be true, but perhaps are a little overwhelmed emotionally or physically to rest in, back into full effect in your own heart, mind, and soul. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Rom 10) You will build your own faith by what you speak.

Speak to yourself! Speak to that mountain! And speak unto both God and your adversary.

“(Bridgette), Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart(s) and mind(s) through Christ Jesus. Finally, (Bridgette), whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

Now obey this simple directive. Whatever is TRUE…not what it feels like…think, dwell, center.

Great word Bridgette! The word is so much more powerful when it comes out of your mouth. I will think it, (meditate upon it), and then I will say it!
