Validity Over Vicinity
In chapter five of John’s Gospel account, Jesus encountered a lame man who had been laid daily near the steps of the pool of Bethesda, a pool that provided healing when the waters were stirred. This man had been, what Scripture calls, an invalid for 38 years. When Jesus questioned if the man desired to be healed, he quickly answered, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”
Essentially this man had been in the vicinity of healing for decades, but had never actually experienced healing.
We can be around, or in the vicinity of, a move of God, but never truly experience it for ourselves. Jesus said to the man, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” Verse 9 records, “And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.” Many were gathered there that day, waiting for the waters to be stirred, but unwilling to move in or take action.
Many were gathered there that day, waiting for the waters to be stirred, but unwilling to move in or take action.
Let me encourage you today that it just might be that the move of God you are craving, the healing you have been longing for, the breakthrough you are seeking requires a step of action on your part. A step of obedience to the Holy Spirit’s prompting can be the catalyst for your faith to believe and experience a move of God.
Don’t just linger in the vicinity of victory, waiting for the waters to come to you. Validate it for yourself through the power of Jesus Christ and step on in!
