Free Flowing Anointing

Acts 10:38-39:  “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power:  Who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.  And we are witnesses of all things which He did, both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; Whom they slew and hanged on a tree.”

This verse of Scripture says that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and with power.  Verse 38 ends by saying that God was with Jesus.  God does not place His precious anointing on just anyone.  There are special ramifications to His anointing being placed on you and staying on you.  When you study the recipe of the anointing oil from the New Testament, the Bible says that pure myrrh, sweet cinnamon, sweet calamus, cassia, and olive oil were the only ingredients that could be used.  There could be no substitutions whatsoever.  Any deviation from the original recipe nullified the effect of the sacred oil.

In essence, whomever was being anointed must be anointed with the pure mixture for the results of that anointing to rest upon the individual.  The word “pure” here literally means “free flowing”.  If there were any foreign substances in that oil it would not flow freely.

When God anoints us for His service, it must be free-flowing for it to be effective.  There can be no foreign substance.  When God anointed Jesus, it was His pure, perfect anointing.  It was not tainted with anything of this world.  In the Gospel of John, when the dove descended on Jesus’s baptism, it was no accident that a dove was the bird that rested upon Him.  The dove is the only bird who chooses a mate for life and stays with them for life.  A dove will never retaliate when something of prey comes against it.  It will only flee.  The dove is pure and innocent.  The Holy Spirit will only rest on lives that are pure and innocent to this world.  He will only rest upon people who are not tainted by the filth of this world.  When He “lands” upon an individual, the combination results in power through holiness.

I want my life and my ministry to be covered and swimming in the same kind of anointing that God granted His Son, Jesus.  Pure, free flowing, untainted, yoke-destroying, holy, and powerful anointing.
